What we do

We're very happy to announce that we're bedding down into a long-term premises - the upstairs of The Rising Sun Pub in Carter Lane, St Paul's. From October 13th 2014 we'll be serving a blend of old favourite dishes, new additions to the roster, superb cocktails and some of the most interesting but keenly priced wines in the City.

From the soul-enriching Cajun gumbo of New Orleans to the fish tacos of the South-West by way of New England’s clam chowder, there's a rotating menu of dishes which lie at the heart and soul of America’s cuisine. Food is keenly priced with snacks starting from £4 and main dishes from £8.
Whilst we honour and respect the traditions and techniques that underpin these dishes, we also recognise the importance of modernising and reinterpreting these recipes to best reflect the amazing produce we enjoy in the UK. ‘American inspiration, British execution’ – The Fat Bear isn’t chained by a desire to be authentic, but instead to update and reimagine these great dishes.
At the heart of our dishes are the best quality ingredients, courtesy of some of the UK’s best suppliers, such as The Rare Breed Meat Co. which supplies all of our meat.

Where we live

You can find us in the self-contained first floor of The Rising Sun Pub on Carter Lane (near to St. Paul's and Blackfriars). The entrance is via the fire exit on Burgon Street - look for The Fat Bear signage, we're hard to miss!

Who we are

The Fat Bear is a collaboration from both sides of the Atlantic, with a team drawn from America and London who’ve honed their ability to deliver the best possible dining experiences in places such as the newly Michelin-starred Social Eating House, Hawksmoor, Paramount and beyond. Our fantastic chef, Bernie Rogers, has worked closely with Duke's Brew and Que, and Blues Kitchen, following a Southern/Cajun epiphany that saw him learning from some of the best chefs and pitmasters in New Orleans.
We pride ourselves on practising the principles of ‘Enlightened Hospitality’ espoused by Danny Meyer, whose fast food venture Shake Shack has just opened in London. ‘Relaxed Excellence’ is key to The Fat Bear - superb service and food in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.
